Pre - processor > modeling > create > area > arbitrary > by key points > select the key points in the order
(1,2,3,4,5,6).

Pre - processor > meshing > mesh tool > size control > in global click "set"  > size element edge length = 1 > ok > select mesh > select the area you want to mesh > ok.

Pre - processor > loads > define loads > apply > structural > displacement > on lines > select the lines as shown in the figure  > ok.

Pre - processor > loads > define loads > apply > structural > force/moment > on nodes > select the nodes as shown in the figure (while selecting convert the selecting method to box selection instead of single selection) > ok > direction of force is  FX = 100.

Solution > solve > current LS > ok > yes > close.

General post processor > plot results > deformed shape > deformed + un- deformed shape > ok.

General post processor > plot results > contour plot > nodal solution > stress > von mises stress > ok.

Pre processor > element type > add/edit/delete > options > element behaviour (K3) > Axis symmetric  > ok.

NOTE: To see the axis symmetric of the problem go to (plot ctrls in the utility menu bar > style > symmetric expansion > 2D axis symmetric > 3/4 expansion > ok.

Solution > solve > current LS > ok > yes > close.

General post processor > plot results > deformed shape > deformed + un- deformed shape > ok.

General post processor > plot results > contour plot > nodal solution > stress > von mises stress > ok.

(ANSYS APDL STRUCTURAL) Modal analysis of a spring-mass system.

Determine the normal and natural frequency of the system below for the values of the masses and the spring stiffness gives. Solution > analysis types mode frequency analysis (ANTYPE = 2) & element type is spring damper element (COMBI 14), Structural mass element (MASS 21). Assumptions: The spring length is arbitrary selected and are used only to define the spring direction, modal analysis is performed using blocked Lanczos Eigensolver. We get f1=2.5814, f2=8.3263, A1/A2=0.9212, A1/A2=-2.1712 (where A1=NODE 2, A2=NODE 3) Pre-processor > element type > add/edit/delete > add > structural mass (mass21) > apply > combination > spring damper 14 > ok.
